3 Days from Fes to Merzouga

Your 3-day adventure begins in Fes with an early departure toward the Middle Atlas Mountains. Leave the city behind and travel through beautiful landscapes toward Ifrane, often known for its clean streets, green surroundings and distinctive architecture. Continue to Azrou and pass through the famous cedar forests of the Middle Atlas. The area offers excellent opportunities to enjoy the mountain scenery and take photographs during a short stop. Continue toward Midelt, a peaceful mountain town surrounded by dramatic landscapes and known for its apple orchards.

Continue toward Erfoud, a town famous for fossils, dates and its connection with the Sahara region. From Erfoud, the landscape gradually becomes more desert-like as you approach Merzouga. In the afternoon, arrive at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes and begin your camel trek into the Sahara. Ride across the golden dunes while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and changing colors of the sand. Stop to admire the sunset before continuing to your desert camp. At the camp, enjoy a traditional dinner and spend the evening listening to local music and experiencing the peaceful atmosphere of the Sahara. Spend the second night of your journey in the desert camp beneath the open Sahara sky.

Wake early to enjoy the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes, one of the most memorable moments of your desert experience. After breakfast at the camp, return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4 and begin the journey back toward Fes. Travel through the landscapes of southeastern Morocco and enjoy another perspective of the Ziz Valley. Continue toward Midelt and cross the Middle Atlas Mountains once again. Along the way, you can stop at scenic viewpoints and enjoy short breaks for photographs and refreshments. The landscape gradually changes from dry desert scenery to greener mountain and agricultural areas as you approach Fes.
